Trump is thinking about “leaving NATO,” and Starmer says the UK will host talks on the Strait of Hormuz

Trump is considering leaving NATO and saying that any possible military action in Iran could end in “two to three weeks.”

In an interview with The Telegraph, President Donald Trump said that he is considering pulling the US out of NATO. He also said that any possible military action in Iran could end in “two to three weeks.”

Trump’s comments come at a time when tensions are high in the Middle East, even though both Washington and Tehran are sending signs that things might calm down.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that later this week, Britain will hold a high-level meeting with dozens of other countries to talk about the growing security concerns around the Strait of Hormuz. Political experts say that Starmer’s move shows that he is trying to strengthen ties with European partners and plan a bigger international response to the problem.

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian said his country is ready to end the war if it is promised not to happen again.

Amidst the political maneuvering, the human toll of the conflict continues to rise. A man in his twenties from Tehran, unable to access the internet, spoke about how hard the war has been on his mental health: “I feel like I’ve been in purgatory for a month… I’m so tired of the war.”

After the leaders spoke, economic signs also showed cautious optimism. After earlier jumps, the price of a barrel of oil around the world fell below $100, which may have made people less worried about long-term problems. The UK’s airline industry group said that there would be no instant effect on jet fuel supplies. This means that for now, key energy routes will still work.

On the ground, however, fighting doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. Israel and Iran are still firing at each other, and Iran is also going after Gulf states. In Lebanon, pictures coming from the affected areas show that ongoing Israeli airstrikes have done a lot of damage to buildings, showing how the war is spreading across the region.
