Young Dolph murder suspect’s plea deal is put on hold because of a report. Request for solitary confinement

Cornelius Smith puts off the last step because of housing issues that keep the case from finishing.

The conclusion of the Young Dolph murder case is still not complete, and there is one last detail that won’t be signed off on.

As of February, Cornelius Smith, the self-admitted shooter, was set to enter his guilty plea. Instead, the deal fell through because he and his lawyers couldn’t agree on the terms of the housing. He had the same problem at his most recent court date on March 30. The case will now be open for a little longer.

FOX 13 reports that Smith’s hearing was pushed back to the middle of May because the judge in Memphis decided that both sides need more time to work things out. The plea deal is still being talked about. Things are still moving slowly, though, because of that one outstanding issue. There have been rumors that Smith may want to be locked up alone to protect himself, but nothing official has proven that. Still, it’s easy to see why people are worried, given how bad the crime was and how it affected so many people.

People still hold a lot of respect for Young Dolph, who was killed on November 17, 2021, and that respect has been felt in every courtroom report.

Another layer is added by Smith’s help. He lied against Justin Johnson, who had already received a life sentence plus 50 years. Johnson was found guilty earlier this month by Tennessee’s Court of Criminal Appeals, which said, “The evidence of the defendant’s guilt was overwhelming, and the prosecutor’s comments were brief.”

So Smith may be hoping that things will get better, but nothing is certain.
