Netflix increases subscription prices for all plans in the US
Netflix has raised prices across all its plans in the U.S. as the streaming giant expands into new programming formats like video podcasts and live sporting events.
The company’s ad-supported tier will now be priced at $8.99 per month, an increase from the previous $7.99, while the standard plan has also seen a $2 rise, now costing $19.99 per month, as stated on its website.
The premium plan is now priced at $26.99 per month, an increase from the previous rate of $24.99. Netflix has raised the cost of adding an extra member to $7.99 for ad-supported plans and to $9.99 for ad-free plans.
In 2023, Netflix, boasting over 325 million subscribers, eliminated its most affordable ad-free option, known as the basic plan. This decision left users with only the pricier premium and standard plans, along with the standard plan that includes ads.
According to estimates from TD Cowen analysts, the company’s average revenue per subscriber in the U.S.-Canada region is projected to increase by 6% year-over-year in 2026 due to the new prices.
It increased prices for the last time at the beginning of last year.
Netflix announced revenue of $12.1 billion for the October-December period, slightly surpassing analysts’ expectations.
In February, it withdrew from the bidding for Warner Bros.’ streaming and studio assets, clearing the path for Paramount Skydance to acquire the renowned Hollywood studio in an $110 billion deal.
