Pacers forward Johnny Furphy will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL
Multiple outlets reported Monday that Indiana Pacers forward Johnny Furphy is anticipated to miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL.
Furphy sustained an injury to his right knee after an awkward landing post-dunk during the third quarter of Sunday’s 122-104 defeat against the Toronto Raptors. He was assisted off the court and then taken to the locker room in a wheelchair.
The Australian native is said to have undergone MRI testing on Monday, which disclosed the severity of his injury. The usual recovery period for a torn ACL ranges from 6 to 12 months, indicating that Furphy’s absence may carry over into the next season.
During his second year in the league, following his selection by the Pacers in the second round of the 2024 draft, Furphy made 21 starts out of 35 regular-season games.
This season, he averaged 5.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 18.4 minutes per game, a notable increase from his average of 2.1 points per game last season, where he played 50 games off the bench.
