Nike is looking into a possible ransomware attack by the hacker group World Leaks

The massive sportswear company reacts to allegations of a data breach when cybersecurity experts discover a fresh threat from well-known extortionists

Nike is now investigating a potential cybersecurity breach after learning that the corporation was the target of a ransomware group.

Cyber Daily was the first to report the story after analysts noticed Nike’s name on a victim list that World Leaks had uploaded. Although the precise type of data implicated is still unknown, the brand’s inclusion on this list has immediately raised concerns about corporate security and consumer privacy.

Hackers from the World Leaks collective have not yet revealed how much or what kind of data they allegedly obtained. Previously, this group was known as Hunters International, according to security experts. That group gained notoriety for engaging in a “double extortion operation,” a strategy in which cybercriminals encrypt a business’s computers while simultaneously stealing confidential information and threatening to release it unless a sizable ransom is satisfied.

The menace is not going unnoticed by the huge sneaker. Complex was informed by Nike that they are already investigating the matter and trying to ascertain its full scope. The business underlined in a formal statement its dedication to safeguarding its customer base worldwide.

“We never take customer privacy or data security lightly. We are actively evaluating the matter and looking into a possible cybersecurity problem, the business said.

There is currently no information available regarding the group’s particular ransom demand or the date by which any stolen materials must be released. At a time when sophisticated ransomware gangs are increasingly targeting large organizations in search of high-profile payouts, this potential intrusion occurs.

Nike has pledged to keep the public updated while the investigation is ongoing.
