Oman Air will begin offering direct flight to Kigali
To improve aviation connectivity between the Sultanate of Oman and East Africa, Oman aviation has announced the introduction of direct flights between Muscat, Oman, and Kigali.
Subject to regulatory permissions, the airline stated in a statement on Sunday, January 11 that the flights are anticipated to start in June of this year.
Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Yusuf Murangwa, Minister of ICT and Innovation Paula Ingabire, and Minister of State for Infrastructure Affairs Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye were all part of the delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Olivier Nduhungirehe, who made the announcement while on an official visit to Oman.
On Sunday, January 11, Oman’s Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, Engineer Saeed bin Hamoud Al Maawali, met with Minister Nduhungirehe.

“The introduction of services to Kigali supports closer engagement between Oman and Rwanda and unlocks the growing tourism potential of both countries as we continue to expand our network in markets with strong long-term potential,” stated Con Korfiatis, CEO of Oman Air.
The new route, he continued, will allow passengers to enjoy the airline’s award-winning service and famous Omani hospitality while facilitating smooth connections between Africa and Oman Air’s larger network.
In addition to giving visitors more access to Oman Air’s worldwide network throughout the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and the Pacific, the new Muscat-Kigali route is anticipated to increase tourism and business travel, especially in meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibits.
According to Minister Uwihanganye, improved air connection will help Rwanda realize its goal of becoming Kigali a significant global hub for social, economic, and aviation activity.
He stated that Oman Air flights between Kigali and Muscat will further the growth of close ties with other nations.
In a related event, the Chamber of Deputies passed draft legislation on October 7 that ratified air service agreements that had been struck between 2022 and 2024 with 12 nations, including Oman.
By strengthening Rwanda’s aviation ties both domestically and internationally, these accords hope to promote trade, travel, and economic cooperation.
