Wizkid solidifies his global supremacy by becoming the first African artist to reach 10 billion Spotify plays.

Wizkid, the Grammy-nominated Nigerian superstar, has made history by becoming the first African musician to hit 10 billion Spotify plays, demonstrating his continuing popularity and global reach.

Wizkid is the most streamed musician in Africa, according to the most recent data as of January 2026. Burna Boy has more than 9.5 billion streams. Tems has surpassed 4.4 billion streams, while Rema is in third place with 5.6 billion. With 3.7 billion streams, South African diva Tyla comes in second, followed by Ayra Starr with 3.3 billion.

Global singles like One Dance with Drake, which has received around four billion streams, and Essence featuring Tems, which has received over 334 million streams, are largely responsible for Wizkid’s streaming success.

Made In Lagos (Deluxe), his third studio album, continues to be his most-streamed work on Spotify, with over one billion plays, solidifying its place as a seminal Afrobeats record.

In addition to reaching streaming milestones, Wizkid has received praise from all over the world, winning three BET, Soul Train, and Billboard Awards, as well as a Grammy for his work with Beyoncé on the soundtrack to The Lion King: The Gift.

The achievement solidifies Wizkid’s standing as one of Africa’s most prosperous and well-known musicians worldwide.
