Anthony Joshua writes a heartfelt message to departed friends, saying, “I didn’t realize how special they are”

Anthony Joshua claims that it wasn’t until he lost his close friends that he realized he was “in the presence of great men.”

Anthony Joshua wrote a heartfelt letter to his two colleagues who perished in a collision on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway.

Reflecting on the loss of his close assistants after the deadly crash on December 29, Joshua posted the heartbreaking message on his Instagram page on Thursday.

His personal trainer, Kevin Latif Ayodele, and his strength and conditioning instructor, Sina Ghami, were killed in the event, while the former heavyweight boxing champion suffered minor injuries.

After receiving medical attention for his wounds, the 36-year-old boxer was released from the hospital on New Year’s Eve and left for the United Kingdom.

Later, Joshua went to see the grieving families and was present at his friends’ funeral prayers at the London Central Mosque.

Joshua described the loss as extremely traumatic in the heartfelt message, saying he only realized the worth of those close to him after they passed away.

Joshua claimed that until he lost his close friends and associates, he was unaware that he was “in the presence of great men.” He added that although the loss has been tough for him, it has been even more terrible for their families.

“I appreciate all of your love and concern for my brothers. “I had no idea how unique they are,” the post says.

“I won’t even be aware that God kept me among such wonderful men; I’ll just be strolling and joking with them. Yes, it’s difficult for me, but I’m aware that their parents are going through considerably more hardship. I think God knows their hearts, and I have a sharp intellect. I pray that God would show my brothers mercy.

Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver of the car involved in the collision, has been charged with causing death by risky driving and operating a vehicle without a valid license, according to confirmation from the Nigerian police.

The matter was postponed until January 20 by a magistrate’s court. The defendant was given N5,000,000 in bond, but he is still being held until his bail requirements are met.
