Anthony Joshua Honors Team Members Killed in Tragic Nigerian Crash with “My Brothers Keeper”
The boxing champion pays tribute to the families of his fallen inner circle by breaking his silence on social media.
For the first time since the terrible accident that altered his life, Anthony Joshua is formally back on Instagram.
As he starts to come to terms with the loss of two of his closest comrades, the heavyweight champion posted a number of heartfelt pictures on Sunday. with the simple caption, “my brother’s keeper.”
In the pictures, Joshua is seen standing in support of the family members of his personal trainer and lifetime friend Latif Ayodele, as well as his strength and conditioning instructor Sina Ghami.
A portrait of Ghami, a man who played a crucial role in Joshua’s camp for many years, is held by a family member in one particular picture. Joshua is grieving for his family, while the boxing community is grieving for the loss of two pros.
On December 29, 2025, the disaster occurred on Nigeria’s Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Joshua was a passenger in a Lexus SUV when the driver lost control and collided with a stalled truck due to a blowout tire. Joshua was rescued from the wreckage with only minor injuries, but Ghami and Ayodele, who were seated in the front of the car, died in the collision.
After his recent triumph over Jake Paul, Joshua has gone to Nigeria to celebrate the New Year. The champion has spent the past week visiting funeral homes and helping the bereaved families in place of celebrations.
The judicial system is progressing while the boxing community grieves. On Friday, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, the vehicle’s driver, was formally charged in a court in Ogun State. Among the four charges against Kayode are driving without a legal license and risky driving that results in death. His trial is scheduled for January 20th, and he has been placed on remand.
