Jessie J wants to pursue a career in comedy after a challenging year
The 37-year-old pop star disclosed in June that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, and after completing treatment in 2025, she is now prepared to embrace life and enjoy the present year.
She shared with the Just As Well podcast from Women’s Health UK: “Next year I’d love to go into stand up.” I would really enjoy pursuing comedy further. I would be thrilled to pursue a career in film.
“I will be touring extensively next year.” I truly aspire to create more music. It has been three years since I last wrote a song, yet I feel that everything is prepared and waiting to be expressed.
“I simply desire to find happiness.” Content, balanced, appreciating my activities, serene, well, fully engaged as a mother and in my professional life, accompanied by some good music.
“Perhaps engaging in something that pushes my boundaries, be it a book, a children’s album, comedy, Broadway, or film, whatever is meant to happen will unfold.”
Jessie, who shares a son named Sky, aged two, with her partner Chanan Colman, also disclosed that she received an ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) diagnosis in 2023 following the birth of her child.
She remarked, “It was during the time I had a baby.” I could no longer conceal it…When I took on the responsibility of Sky, and considering how my mind operates, being a new mum brought some truly overwhelming days of burnout…
“I received a diagnosis and since then, I’ve been actively addressing it through therapy, gaining insights into my feelings, understanding when it intensifies, and discovering what alleviates it.”
She also has OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) but is actively working on managing both.
She expressed, “I’m focused on enhancing myself and becoming the best version of who I am, while also embracing the way my mind operates, and that’s perfectly fine…”I truly believe that when ADHD is in the right environment, it becomes a remarkable asset, don’t you think?
“The way my mind operates and the tasks I can accomplish in a single day is not typical for the average person.”
“My time management stems from the fact that my OCD is a result of my ADHD…”I take pride in my personal style, and I enjoy the fact that I do so much on my own.
“There are days when I can tumble down the ladder and end up in a mess…”People often say, ‘Alright, now it’s time to take it easy and pay attention.’
“I didn’t do it when I was younger, but I pay attention now.” I sense that I’m creating an environment that allows me to thrive with my ADHD, enabling me to be open rather than concealed.
