Russell Brand Faces New Rape and Sexual Assault Charges Just Days After Appearing at TPUSA Event

Russell Brand is now confronted with two additional charges of rape and sexual assault, which compounds the five existing allegations involving four women, pertaining to incidents that occurred between 1999 and 2005.

The inquiry commenced in 2023 after reports from Channel 4 and The Sunday Times. The actor appeared in court in May, where he denied all allegations. A four-week trial for the initial charges is scheduled for next summer.

Russell Brand Faces Two Additional Charges of Rape and Sexual Assault

Russell Brand, 50, now faces two more charges of rape and sexual assault, bringing the total to seven allegations against him. These include rape, oral rape, indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault involving four women. In May, he made an appearance in court and entered a plea of not guilty to the original charges.

The Metropolitan Police have reported that the new allegations involve two additional women.

Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi, who is at the forefront of the investigation, stated that the “women who have come forward with reports, including those related to the two new charges, are still receiving support from specially trained officers.”

He stated, “The Met’s investigation is still in progress, and detectives encourage anyone impacted by this case, or anyone with information, to step forward and communicate with the police.”

Brand is set to appear in court next month regarding the two new charges that are said to have taken place in 2009.

Lionel Idan, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the CPS, indicated that these charges arise from distinct, non-recent allegations and that prosecutors “worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring these additional charges to court and that it is in the public interest to pursue further criminal proceedings.”

The recent charges follow Brand’s appearance at the Turning Point USA event in Phoenix, Arizona, where he garnered attention for his comments regarding his ex-wife Katy Perry’s new partner, Justin Trudeau.

The inquiry commenced in September 2023 after several reports surfaced, initiated by Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Sunday Times. The initial allegations pertain to incidents that occurred between 1999 and 2005.

Brand is accused of raping a woman at a hotel in 1999 after they met at a theatrical event following the Labour Party conference in Bournemouth.

He faces accusations of raping a television worker in Soho in 2004, reportedly compelling a sexual act after seizing her.

A different woman alleges that the comedian attempted to pull her into a men’s restroom and assaulted her in 2001.

One last allegation pertains to an assault on a radio station employee during his time on “Big Brother’s Big Mouth” from 2004 to 2005.

The comedian has refuted the allegations.

The original five charges will be the focus of a four-week trial set to commence next summer at Southwark Crown Court.

Following the charges in April, Brand remarked, “What I never was was a rapist.” I have never participated in any nonconsensual actions.

He stated, “I now have the chance to defend these charges in court, and I am truly thankful for that.”

In a different video, Brand asserted that he had never committed rape and claimed that the British government was wielding the law as a “weapon.”

The comedian remarked, “I’ve consistently shared with you all that during my younger, single days before my wife and family came along … I was quite the fool, man.” “I was foolish before I embraced the light of the Lord.”

“I struggled with addiction to drugs and sex, and I often felt foolish.” However, what I have never been is a rapist,” Brand continued according to The Blast. “I have never participated in activities that lack consent.”

Despite residing in the US and having ties to MAGA figures, Brand made an appearance in London for pre-trial hearings, sidestepping a much-anticipated extradition conflict.

In the wake of the initial reports, the BBC, Channel 4, and Big Brother producer Banijay initiated internal investigations, revealing additional allegations and leading to subsequent apologies.

A recent report from the BBC brought attention to staff at its UK L.A. bureau who “joked about” an incident involving Brand allegedly exposing himself.
