Zambia coach finally makes his debut following a bout of food poisoning

Zambia coach Moses Sichone will have the chance to lead his team from the bench on Monday, marking his first appearance in this role after missing his debut last month.

Zambia faces Mali in Casablanca in Group A of the Africa Cup of Nations, following Morocco’s 2-0 victory over Comoros in the tournament’s opening match in Rabat on Sunday.

Sichone was appointed in November as the successor to Avram Grant, who departed from the Zambia position in late October following a disappointing series of results in World Cup qualifying, just under two months before the Cup of Nations in Morocco was set to commence.

Former Bundesliga defender Sichone experienced food poisoning and was confined to bed when Zambia faced South Africa in a friendly match. He was hospitalized while his team traveled to Angola for another warm-up game.
