Idris Elba and Madame Tussaud’s London Waxwork Celebrate a “Full Circle” Moment
The most recent celebrity to receive the red carpet treatment at the London Wax Museum is the award-winning actor.
Additionally, starting on Friday, he will be in the Baker Street attraction’s Awards Party area among a stellar array of wax figures, including pop singers Lady Gaga (39) and Harry Styles (31), as well as actress Gillian Anderson (57) and actor Timothee Chalamet (29).
“Being recognized in this way is a true honor, and it’s even more special to know that this other version of myself will be standing tall in London,” Idris, 53, said. Therefore, a part of me is constantly at home, even when I’m not there.
The Hijack legend wears a long-sleeved version of the monotone blue Eve of Winston outfit, a wax figure that took Madame Tussauds London’s skilled painters a several years to make.
Idris created it for when he met 77-year-old King Charles in July 2024 at a gathering to discuss juvenile violent crime.
Patent Christian Louboutin dress shoes, which the Hollywood icon donated for his Madame Tussauds waxwork to sport, complete the stylish ensemble.
“The process has been fascinating,” Idris continued. Working with gifted artists to develop the character and perfecting the costume is similar to preparing for a movie role, but this time it’s for me!
“It feels like a full circle moment to see another version of myself standing in Madame Tussauds London; it’s really surreal.”
The Luther star has been promoting African arts and enterprise, leading the Don’t Stop Your Future campaign against knife crime in the UK, and supporting community projects in his hometown of Hackney, East London, in addition to starring in popular TV dramas and blockbusters.
Additionally, Idris is a proud addition to Madame Tussauds London’s waxwork lineup, according to General Manager Steve Blackburn.
“Idris is a Londoner through and through,” Steve remarked. He has traveled from Hackney to Hollywood thanks to his exceptional skill, but he has never forgotten his roots; he continues to give back to the place where he was reared and uses his voice to advocate for a brighter future for everyone.
Being able to construct Idris’ first figure in London, where it all started, is an honor. We are thrilled to see his response to the completed figure, and his cooperation has been helpful.
