Former Chief of Staff to Bill Clinton Responds Following Release of Epstein Files Photo
Angel Ureña said the DOJ photo dump is about what comes next, not about protecting Clinton.
Former President Bill Clinton is among the well-known figures back in the public eye due to a resurgence of interest in the Jeffrey Epstein case.
When further Epstein-related documents were made public by the Department of Justice on December 19, Clinton’s former chief of staff, Angel Ureña, publicly questioned the story around the revelation.
Ureña attacked the release’s timing and purpose, saying it was not about transparency in a message uploaded to X.
In order to protect Bill Clinton, he claimed, “The White House hasn’t been hiding these files for months only to dump them late on a Friday.” “This is about protecting themselves from what lies ahead or from what they will attempt to conceal indefinitely.”
Ureña refuted the notion that any established facts regarding Clinton’s past are altered by rediscovered images. “So they can release as many grainy, 20 plus year old photos as they want, but this isn’t about Bill Clinton,” he said, downplaying the images’ significance. It has never been and never will be.
The documents were made public in accordance with Donald Trump’s approved Epstein Files Transparency Act, which mandates that the DOJ make all unclassified documents pertaining to Epstein’s investigation and prosecution public. Some of the images that were made public also feature Trump, which Ureña said should not be disregarded as the public considers who is being investigated and why.
Ureña also cited recent statements made by White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, who claimed that there is “no evidence” that Clinton visited Epstein’s private island, Little St. James, on multiple occasions. Clinton has continuously rejected years of rumors, which are plainly refuted by that remark.
To elaborate, Ureña separated those associated with Epstein into two groups. He wrote, “There are two types of people here.” Before Epstein’s activities were discovered, the first group disconnected him since they were unaware of him. After then, the second group kept in touch with him. The first is us. That won’t alter no matter how much the second group stalls.
Photos of Clinton in social situations with Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell were included in the DOJ release. One photo was taken by the pool, while another was thought to have been taken on a private jet. Although the faces of other people in the pictures were removed, the images immediately sparked new political discussion and controversy on the internet.
For years, Clinton’s answer to these accusations has not altered. “President Clinton is unaware of the horrible crimes Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to in Florida a few years ago, or those he was recently charged with in New York,” Ureña stated in a 2019 statement.
That same statement explained Clinton’s sparse interactions with Epstein, pointing out that Clinton visited his Harlem office once and boarded his jet four times, both times escorted by Secret Service officers.
Ureña claims that Clinton “has never been to Little St. James Island, Epstein’s ranch in New Mexico, or his residence in Florida” and that he hasn’t spoken to Epstein in well over ten years.
In closing, Ureña emphasized that the public should be given clarity rather than deception. In the midst of one of the most closely watched cases in contemporary political history, he stated, “Everyone, especially MAGA, expects answers, not scapegoats.”
