Legend of NASCAR Greg Biffle his wife and children are said to have died when his private jet crashed near a North Carolina runway
Legendary NASCAR driver Greg Biffle has tragically lost his life in a devastating plane crash in North Carolina.
Officials report that the Cessna C550, a private jet linked to a company owned by the 55-year-old racing star, crash-landed near a runway at Statesville Regional Airport on Thursday morning, resulting in the deaths of Biffle and others on board. The light jet had departed from the same airstrip approximately 26 minutes prior and was initially headed for Florida.
Preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft seemed to reverse course toward the airport just minutes after takeoff, prior to the tragic crash.
Tributes and confirmations of the victims swiftly filled social media. Garrett Mitchell, recognized online as YouTuber Cleetus McFarland, mentioned that Biffle and his family were on their way to spend time with him when the unfortunate event occurred.
“Regrettably, I must confirm that Greg Biffle, along with his wife Cristina, daughter Emma, and son Ryder, were on that plane… as they were en route to spend the afternoon with us. We are heartbroken. “I deeply regret having to share this,” Mitchell wrote.
Congressman Richard Hudson of North Carolina, who was acquainted with the family, also released a statement regarding the loss.
“I am heartbroken by the loss of Greg, Cristina, and their children, and my thoughts are with all who cherished them,” Rep. Hudson expressed. They were friends dedicated to a life of service to others. Greg was an exceptional NASCAR champion who captivated millions of fans. He was an exceptional individual, and his legacy will be defined not only by his bravery on the track but also by his dedication to serving others. We extend our heartfelt prayers to their family, friends, and all those mourning this profound loss.
The identity of the individual piloting the jet is still unknown. The investigation will be led by the National Transportation Safety Board.
