Manchester United FIFA files complaint about the release of Mazroui

The debate concerning player releases for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is still intensifying. A number of national team coaches, who had hoped for an earlier date to better prepare for the tournament beginning on December 21, were disappointed by FIFA’s official decision to set December 14 as the necessary release date for players.

Tensions between clubs and federations are still strong in spite of this verdict, since some teams are trying to postpone the departure of important players.

Now, Manchester United is at the heart of the conflict. The release of Noussair Mazraoui, who was barred from playing for United while other circumstances were handled differently, has reportedly prompted the English club to lodge a complaint with FIFA.

Since their match against Bournemouth (4-4) was postponed before to FIFA’s statement, the Red Devils are looking for clarification. The club feels unfairly penalized in addressing the Moroccan international’s position, which has led to irritation due to this apparent inconsistency.
