Aircraft Crashes Into Vehicle Amid Emergency Highway Landing in Florida
An elderly driver was hurt when a Beechcraft 55 made an emergency landing on I-95.
On Monday, a car and a tiny plane in Florida collided during a crash landing close to Merritt Island.
The 27-year-old pilot had to try an emergency landing on the highway after the Beechcraft 55 aircraft malfunctioned while in flight. According to accounts, the pilot was compelled to choose to land the aircraft on the roadway when the power in both engines started to diminish.
The jet struck a Toyota Camry driven by an elderly woman due to traffic on the highway. She had minor injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital.
The plane plunged onto the road and struck the automobile head-on, as seen on the dashcam of the car that was following.
The pilot and a passenger were the only two individuals on board. The Florida Patrol Team reported that “neither the pilot flying the plane nor the passenger on board sustained any injuries.”
The aircraft attempted an emergency landing close to the 201-mile marker of I-95, according to Brevard County Fire Rescue. The crew stated, “During this, it collided with a car and crashed due to loss of balance.”
An inquiry into the incident has been started by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
