Rwanda and the US and DR Congo form economic deals
Rwanda signed two bilateral commercial agreements with the United States and Democratic Republic of the Congo in addition to the Washington Accords for Peace and Prosperity, which were signed on Thursday, December 4.
The foreign ministers of each nation signed the accords on the same day.
The Regional Economic Integration Framework (REIF) is the official name of the bilateral economic agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, whilst the Framework Between the U.S. and Rwanda for Shared Economic Prosperity is the name of the deal with the United States.
Both accords seek to promote regional economic integration and foster shared prosperity, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
In order to show the real advantages of peace and to create investment opportunities that help the people in the region, the REIF identifies important sectors for promoting economic cooperation and development between Rwanda and the DR Congo.
Rwanda and DR Congo want to map out a future of mutually beneficial collaborations and increased connectivity with international investment prospects under the REIF, according to a previous joint statement.
Partnerships are mentioned in a number of fields, including mining, infrastructure, energy, industrial development, agribusiness, public health, and national park administration.
