Slot of Liverpool takes responsibility for the worst defeat of his Anfield reign
Arne Slot, the manager of Liverpool, took responsibility after his team’s 3-0 humiliation by Nottingham Forest, which left the champions in 11th place and their title chase in ruins, was their joint-heaviest home Premier League loss ever.
Forest, who were in the drop zone prior to kickoff, defeated Liverpool for the sixth time in their previous seven league games thanks to goals from Murillo, Nicolo Savona, and Morgan Gibbs-White.
Telling reporters, “Another big disappointment,” Slot said. “For the first thirty minutes, we had a pretty good start. We were unable to play as well as we did in the first half hour, and we lost 1-0.
The Dutchman acknowledged that his tactical adjustments did not elicit a reaction.
“I am accountable whether things go well or poorly. We couldn’t produce enough. I made several adjustments, but it didn’t work. The Dutchman claimed that we failed to score a goal.
Savona of Forest scored in the opening minute of the home team’s second-half collapse.
“It was obviously harmful. As visiting fans sang “You’re getting sacked in the morning,” Slot remarked, “It was already difficult to be 1-0 against a team blocking everything.”
In the last eleven games, Liverpool has lost eight.
In their last 11 games across all competitions, Liverpool has now dropped eight of them.
“We have three Premier League games in a short period of time after playing in the Champions League again on Wednesday when they host PSV Eindhoven. Keep your head up and put forth a ton of effort. We’re making an effort every day,” Slot stated.
The management acknowledged that difficulties cannot be resolved by experience alone.
“It’s always helpful to have experienced and quality players,” he stated. “It’s not working out at this moment.”
The most recent casualties were Florian Wirtz and Conor Bradley due to injuries, and summer big-money acquisitions like Alexander Isak have not yet settled in.
Slot took Isak’s place halfway through the second half after the most costly player in league history, Isak, started but was mainly inconspicuous.
