Macron of France thinks the concept for a peace settlement needs to be reviewed
French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Saturday that a peace proposal put forth by the United States to put an end to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine was a solid starting point but needed to be reviewed with the support of Europeans.
“A peace plan has surfaced that includes concepts that are quite well-known, whether or not they were discussed. He told reporters at a G20 summit in South Africa, “It’s good in that it proposes peace and recognizes important elements on issues of sovereignty, security guarantees.”
“But it’s a basis for work that needs to be revisited, as we did last summer, because this plan, first of all, wasn’t negotiated with the Europeans,” he stated.
However, it lays forth a lot of requirements for Europeans. Europeans own frozen assets. “The Europeans are in charge of Ukraine’s European integration,” he declared.
“NATO members are in charge of knowing what the organization is doing. Therefore, there are a lot of things that need wider consultation and can’t just be an American suggestion,” he continued.
