Mbeumo gives Manchester United and Cameroon control over the AFCON decision

Bryan Mbeumo has acknowledged that both sides will decide his availability and that he will not decide whether to stay with Manchester United during a critical period of the season or join Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations.

As AFCON draws near and the Premier League’s busiest time of year coincides with the competition, the forward finds himself at the center of a delicate tug-of-war. Losing a prolific attacker would be a huge setback for United. Mbeumo is a crucial component of Cameroon’s strategy to contend for the continental championship.

Speaking about the matter, Mbeumo stated unequivocally that he has no intention of pressuring anyone into making a choice. He expressed his confidence that the club and his national team can come to a mutually respectful agreement.

He is well aware of the stakes based on his stance. Although December and January frequently influence the course of Premier League seasons, AFCON is still a significant source of pride for African athletes. The depth of United’s roster and their pursuit of stability this season add another level of complexity to the discussion.

In the meantime, Cameroon is juggling their own demands and is keen to field a full-strength team for a competition where there is little difference between victory and failure.

Mbeumo’s destiny in the upcoming months depends on talks that are still taking place behind the scenes because neither Cameroon nor Manchester United have made their intentions public. For the time being, the athlete is not picking sides, letting his club and international coaches make that choice.
