Trump claims the US will cooperate with Saudi Arabia to put an end to the violence in Sudan

President Trump of the United States said on Wednesday that he would help stop the war in Sudan after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman asked him to do so.

“We’ve already started working on that,” Trump said at a business conference in Saudi Arabia the next day, after meeting with the real leader of Saudi Arabia at the White House.

The meeting was attended by bin Salman and his delegation. Trump told them that his government started working on the problem thirty minutes after the crown prince asked for it at the meeting on Tuesday.

Trump later said in a social media post that the US will work with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, and other Middle Eastern countries to stop the killings in the area and make Sudan more stable.

The Sudan war began in 2023 when the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces were fighting over who would be in charge after a planned change to civilian rule. It has led to killings based on race, a lot of damage, and a lot of people having to move. It has also attracted foreign powers and threatened to split Sudan in two.

Five people with knowledge of the situation say that the Saudi crown prince thinks Trump’s direct pressure is what is needed to break the deadlock in talks to end the more than two and a half years of war. He bases this on his work to secure a ceasefire in Gaza last month.

Trump says that the Saudi leader seemed to feed into the idea that he is a healer in the minds of Americans.

“He mentioned Sudan yesterday, and he said, ‘Sir, you’re talking about a lot of wars, but there’s a place on Earth called Sudan, and it’s horrible what’s happening,'” he said.

Because hundreds of miles of Sudanese coastline are on the other side of the Red Sea from Saudi Arabia, ending the war is important for national security.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “Huge crimes are happening in Sudan.” “It has turned into the deadliest place on Earth and the biggest humanitarian crisis at the same time.” We need food, medicine, and everything else very badly.
