Cristiano Ronaldo and the Saudi Crown Prince are reportedly visiting the White House
The Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman and soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo were expected to meet with President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday, according to several media outlets.
Ronaldo, the five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or, is now the most well-known player in the Saudi Pro League after helping Portugal win the 2016 European Championship. Teams in Saudi Arabia have spent more than $3 billion to acquire some of the world’s top players in an effort to elevate the domestic league.
Ronaldo, 40, joined SPL team Al Nassr immediately after the 2022 World Cup ended in Qatar, signing a 2 1/2-year contract for an estimated $536.3 million. Over the summer, he reportedly paid $710 million for a two-year deal that would keep him with Al Nassr through at least the 2026–2027 campaign.
The Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia is the owner of four SPL clubs, including Al Nassr.
Ronaldo has made 84 starts and scored 83 goals with 17 assists in his four seasons with Al Nassr.
The United States, Canada, and Mexico are hosting the 2025 World Cup, and Ronaldo declared earlier this month that it will be his final tournament. Since playing as a substitute for Real Madrid in an exhibition match against Manchester United in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in August of 2014, he has not played in the United States.
The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia will be visiting the United States for the first time in seven years.
