Ray J, Kris Jenner, and Kim Kardashian are back at odds over the 2007 sex tape
Kim Kardashian, her mother Kris Jenner, and her former partner Ray J are embroiled in yet another court battle.
Because of the truth about a sex tape, the rapper and the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” stars have been at odds for years. After the released explicit film in 2007, Kim and her family started to gain popularity, but she has denied any involvement in the leak.
In contrast, Ray J has insisted on signing a contract with Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner to make the sex tape public on several occasions. The mother and daughter pair sued him for defamation, and he has subsequently filed a countersuit against them.

Alex Spiro, Kim and Kris’ lawyer, outlined their position in a statement following Ray J’s countersuit in response to their defamation action against him. Considering the rapper’s case “frivolous,” the lawyer said he was losing the battle.
“After realizing he is losing the case and losing his way, this disjointed rambling distraction is not intimidating anyone,” Spiro said on Page Six. In a daring move that demonstrated Kim and Kris’ faith in winning the case, he announced Ray J would lose his countersuit.
In his countersuit, Ray J made even more charges regarding the sex tape leak. During their relationship in 2003, he claimed that he and Kim had made the obscene video together. Kim expressed her desire for the recording to be made public in 2006 and urged Kris to take care of the release.

Before she and her daughter completely changed their minds and blamed Kris for their behavior, Ray J claims that Kris shared the sex footage. He claimed the mother-daughter pair was pursuing him because he “no longer wants to play along with their tall tale.”
Ray J emphasized in the countersuit that “Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner’s lawsuit is not about defamation — it’s about publicity, power, and punishment.” The Blast revealed in October that the entertainer had made shocking allegations about Kim and Kris, prompting them to sue him for defamation.
Their lawyer accused Ray J of clinging to the past because he was “unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with Ms. Kardashian over 20 years ago.” The first thing that made people take notice was his admission that he wouldn’t be shocked if the Kardashians were accused of racketeering.
According to Ray J, the reality TV star’s door would be knocked on by the federal government.
Ray J came clean about Kim and Kris in the Tubi documentary “United States vs. Sean Combs.” He warned those close to Kim to be wary of the infamous family, claiming that they could face prosecution under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).
“The Feds are coming, so they need to let her know now. Ray J said, “I can’t do anything about it.” The RICO case he was constructing against Kim and Kris, he said, was nothing in comparison to the fall of Diddy, a well-publicized criminal case that resulted in the rapper’s imprisonment.
Throughout the years, Ray J has been outspoken about his relationship with Kim, saying that their sexual life included “a red Louis Vuitton trunk of sex toys.” But Kim called him out for being “a pathological liar.” He claimed that Kim liked to have the ideal lighting and makeup whenever they were intimate.
There were rumors that the R&B singer had a second sex tape.
The three were once again in the news for a second sex tape, years before Ray J, Kim, and Kris started their legal journey. According to a 2022 story by The Mirror, the drama took place during a segment of the family’s reality television program.
Kanye “Ye” West, her ex-husband, had come forward to make a deal with Ray J after the founder of SKIMS found out he had another tape in his possession. At the airport, Kim revealed to her family that he had taken the computer and hard drive that contained the graphic videos from her ex.
Assuring Kim that he would “never let them extort us again,” Ye appeared to be addressing Ray J and his manager in the episode. Nonetheless, the R&B artist presented an other account, asserting that he was falsely accused of a crime by the Kardashians.
Alleged Conversations Between Kim Kardashian and Her Ex Were Made Public
In response, Ray J released a 44-minute video that purportedly showed his conversations with Kim. He accused her in one message of using the second sex tape to frame him and threatened to reveal their contract.
He reminded Kim that they had made a bargain on the leaked sex tape, and he chastised her for attempting to destroy him. Kim responded by expressing concern about Ray J’s viewing habits and emphasizing that she never made any negative remarks about him.
Ray J lost it after Kim never followed through on her promise to clarify the misunderstanding in a statement. In the video, he disclosed their purported contract for the leaked sex footage along with more purported messages between them.
