Trump’s Freed Drug Dealer Is Back in Prison for Sexual Offenses Against a Toddler and Nanny
Trump once shortened Jonathan Braun’s sentence, but now he faces years in prison again for injuring a youngster and sexually assaulting his children’s nanny.
Donald Trump reportedly gave a man from Long Island a “second chance,” but now he’s back in jail for offenses much more egregious than drug trafficking.
According to reports from The New York Post and AP News, Jonathan Braun, a convicted marijuana trafficker whose 10-year sentence was commuted by Trump in 2021, was found guilty once more for hitting a toddler and sexually abusing his children’s caregiver.
Once infamous for overseeing a significant smuggling enterprise, Braun was released following Trump’s clemency in his last days in office. Because Braun had previously been charged with operating an illicit lending operation that targeted small businesses, the move was criticized at the time.
After a few years, Braun’s name is once again in the news, but for all the wrong reasons. According to the prosecution, he hurt a toddler in a different incident and beat his family’s nanny, restraining her against her will. For breaking the conditions of his supervised release, he received a sentence of 27 months in federal prison.
This is the latest instance of a Trump clemency recipient committing another crime after being freed.
