Libya’s Zallaf for Oil and Gas has successfully completed its first shipment from the Chadar oil field

The Chadar oil field in the Sirte Basin, southeast of Ajdabiya in eastern Libya, has produced its first oil shipment, according to a statement released by Libya’s Zallaf for Oil and Gas Co. on Wednesday.

In a statement posted on its verified Facebook page, the subsidiary of Libya’s National Oil Corporation did not reveal the destination of the cargo of almost 600,000 barrels of premium Sidra crude.

According to Zallaf, more than five development wells have been finished at the Chadar field, also known as NC-126, during the project’s initial phase. In January, daily production began with 1,500 barrels of petroleum and over 7.5 million cubic feet of associated gas.

Zallaf and Honeywell, a U.S. company, inked an agreement in March 2023 for engineering work on the proposed South Refinery project, which is expected to cost between $500 million and $600 million. About 30,000 barrels of crude oil would be processed daily by the refinery to create standard petroleum products.
