Mohammed Salah will have a meeting with the Egyptian boss

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is scheduled for important discussions with Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan next week to avoid another club-versus-country conflict ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Pharaohs will commence their pre-tournament training camp in early December, featuring a warm-up friendly against Nigeria at the Cairo International Stadium during the week starting December 8.

Nonetheless, Egypt’s preparation schedule coincides with important matches for Liverpool, as they are set to play Inter Milan away in the UEFA Champions League and welcome Brighton in the Premier League during that same week.

According to sources close to the player, Salah, who is crucial for both his club and national team, would rather participate in competitive matches for Liverpool before joining Egypt for the AFCON.

The 32-year-old’s possible late arrival may reignite previous tensions between Liverpool and the Egyptian FA, who have had conflicts in the past regarding Salah’s international obligations.

Coach Hossam Hassan, who was appointed earlier this year, is eager to prevent any conflicts and plans to meet with Salah to reach a compromise that benefits both sides — ensuring Egypt has their captain in optimal condition while honoring Liverpool’s timetable.

Egypt aims to secure its eighth continental title as the Africa Cup of Nations is set to commence in Morocco from December 2025 to January 2026.
