Dick Cheney, a former US vice president, passes away at age 84 from heart problems and pneumonia
Dick Cheney, 84, passed away from heart problems and pneumonia while his wife and daughters were by his side.
Dick Cheney, the 84-year-old former vice president, died late Monday. “His daughters, Liz and Mary, as well as other family members were with him as he passed away,” his family stated in a statement, referring to his 61-year-long wife, Lynne.
Long-standing heart and vascular conditions, as well as complications from pneumonia, were the causes of Cheney’s death.
Known for being a war hawk, Cheney was a key figure in President George W. Bush’s campaign to attack Iraq on the basis of later-disproved intelligence that Saddam Hussein had accumulated WMDs.
