Idris and Sabrina Elba are said to have been pursued by a stalker
The Luther actor and his 36-year-old wife, Sabrina, have been receiving “distressing” emails on their personal accounts. The unidentified woman has also shown up at private events in London that they were attending separately on several days.
Police are reportedly aware that the pair has been the victim of attacks since September and as recently as October 21.
“These incidents were extremely upsetting for Idris and his family,” a source told The Sun on Sunday.
It had gotten so bad that he was forced to report it to the police.
It was obvious that the last straw for him was when Sabrina was dragged into the situation. In order to safeguard his wife and his family, he took the necessary actions.
However, Idris, 53, recently stated that he does not “have the courage” to enter politics.
He gave the following explanation to reporters at the Venice Film Festival in Italy: “I think you have to give it to people that enter politics – the life cycle and going on an educational curve to become a politician means that you have to adopt that courage really early because then you’re faced with these impossible predicaments.”
“So, it’s about your judgment; it’s about your courage, your knowledge, your experiences, and what you’ve learnt. I became aware that I definitely lack the bravery to enter the political arena.
The House of Dynamite star, who was born and raised in London, had been tipped as a possible Labour candidate for the upcoming mayoral election, which is anticipated to take place in 2028 as incumbent Sadiq Khan is not expected to run again. His denial followed this.
“Idris is a thoughtful political campaigner in addition to having star appeal,” a source told The Sun tabloid. It is up to Labour to decide who we will elect to run in London.
“We can choose an insider in Labour and work to make them well-known. Another option is to choose a well-known Labour supporter. At the top of our wish list would be Idris.
“Idris has been discussed by some members of the party, but it is a long shot,” said another insider.
For spearheading the Don’t Stop Your Future initiative to combat knife violence in his area, Idris has already received recognition.
