Afrobeats artist Davido opens his world tour, “5ive Alive,” with a hugely successful sold-out show in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
David Adeleke, best known as Davido, is a Nigerian Afrobeats singer. He sold out the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to kick off his eagerly awaited “5ive Alive Tour.”
An estimated 30,000 people attended the concert, making it one of the largest live music gatherings of the year, according to the New Telegraph.
The DMW boss and award-winning singer gave a fantastic performance that combined celebration, flair, and nostalgia. From classic classics like “Dami Duro” and “Aye” to his most recent single, “With You,” Davido enthralled the audience with his contagious charisma and energy.
With its intricate stage designs, laser lights, and pyrotechnics, the show’s staging was a visual masterpiece that turned the stadium into a musical paradise.
Davido arrived in Uyo to a presidential-style reception, a symbolic act that showcased both his celebrity power and Akwa Ibom’s hospitality. The importance of the occasion was highlighted when he was welcomed by a local brass band and dignitaries before touring the home of Senate President and former Akwa Ibom Governor Godswill Akpabio.
Popular TikTok influencer Ivana, who is well-known for her candid appreciation of Wizkid, opened the concert with a surprise and intrigue, adding to the excitement of the evening. Her performance, which embodied the 5ive Alive Tour’s ethos of inclusivity and harmony within Nigeria’s competitive Afrobeats sector, went well despite early criticism from some Davido fans.
The stadium was filled with an electrifying atmosphere. As Davido thanked his fans, they waved their phone lights in appreciation while singing along to every song. He yelled, “Uyo, you made history tonight,” to thunderous cheers.
