Mass protests happen all over the world against Trump’s “authoritarian rule”

Thousands of people protested President Trump’s claimed undermining of democracy by marching in more than 2,600 events across the US and Europe.

Over the weekend, tens of thousands of protesters occupied streets across the US and Europe to voice their opposition to what they call President Donald Trump’s “authoritarian rule.”

Known as the “No Kings,” the planned protests included over 2,600 gatherings in major US cities, including Boston, Portland, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, DC. Protesters said the Trump administration’s controversial policies, such disputing birthright citizenship and stepping up immigration raids, undermine democratic values.

Organizers said that the gatherings, which featured signs and shouts condemning what they called “fascist rule,” represented opposition to what they described as an attempt to transform the president into a monarchy.

The White House denounced the demonstrations as a “hate America” incident.

According to Debbie Rosenman of Michigan, “We are here today for ‘No Kings 2.0.'” In our nation, things have gotten worse. The streets are where we’re going. This isn’t a rally for “Hate America.” This is a rally for “Love America.”

The campaign, which is currently in its second year, attracted hundreds of people to cities including Berlin, Madrid, Lisbon, and Paris for solidarity protests. Trump was criticized by protesters there for undermining American prestige internationally.

Rising popular discontent with what detractors see as the Trump administration’s deterioration of democratic standards is reflected in the large-scale marches.
