CNN says Trump officials consider meeting with Kim Jong Un while in Asia
CNN reported on Saturday that a meeting between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is being talked about behind closed doors by people in the Trump administration. The meeting could happen during the president’s upcoming trip to Asia.
Officials have not started making plans for logistics or talking directly with Pyongyang, and the story also said that Trump’s earlier attempts to reach out to North Korea were turned down.
In August, after having South Korean President Lee Jae Myung to the White House for the first time, Trump said he would like to meet the leader of North Korea.
Reuters couldn’t confirm the story right away, and the White House didn’t answer right away when asked for comment.
