Lescure is reappointed as finance minister by France’s Macron amidst budgetary difficulties

Roland Lescure, an Emmanuel Macron close friend, was once again named finance minister in the French government’s Sunday announcement of Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu’s new cabinet.

The last government of Lecornu lasted only fourteen hours. At a time when the administration is under tremendous pressure to navigate a 2026 budget through a sharply divided parliament, Lescure becomes leadership of the finance ministry.
