Rose Muhando’s Ksh 5 Million payout from the song “Nibebe”: The Story Behind It

The major payoff of a hit song.

Legendary Tanzanian gospel singer Rose Muhando has described the exact moment her career became a huge financial success.

The seasoned singer disclosed in a recent interview with podcaster Dr. King’ori that her worldwide hit song “Nibebe” brought in her first five million Kenyan Shillings (Ksh 5 million).
Early Professional Experience and Lowly Origins

Muhando was driven only by enthusiasm to pursue a career in music. She had no early hopes of making money from recording because she started out loving the choir.

The album Mteule Uwe Macho was her debut studio release. Around 2004, the album was recorded.

Muhando stated that she didn’t comprehend the industry’s business mechanics and just walked away after recording the songs.

“I just went, took a video, and said, ‘Thank you, I’m going.'” She recalled, “I knew nothing else.”

Her music was well-liked throughout East Africa, especially in Kenya, but widespread piracy cost her a large portion of her earnings.

The Shock of the First Payout

The first money she received, from her first album, was small. Muhando got about Ksh 20,000. At the time, this amount was equal to 100,000 Tanzanian Shillings.

Being so wealthy overwhelmed Muhando to the point where she fled in terror. Persuaded that everyone knew she was carrying cash, she concealed it in her clothing.

“I was perplexed when my Indian distributor gave me my first paycheck. I had to keep my wealth a secret since I didn’t want anyone to find out. Rose Muhando remarked, “I was clinging to myself in the matatu because I thought everyone was seeing me with money.”

She received an even bigger amount of roughly Ksh 700,000 a month following this first one.

I was trembling and gripping the money in my hands like a crazy person because I didn’t think it was mine. Before they assisted me in opening a bank account, the Indians paid in cash.

The ‘Nibebe’ Occurrence

Soon after, Muhando released the song “Nibebe,” which swiftly rose to fame all over the world. This song’s popularity was the reason she got a sizable windfall.

Important Statistic

• “Nibebe” paid out 5,000,000 Kenyan Shillings.

• One hundred million Tanzanian Shillings was the equal as this.

She gives credit to her Indian distributors for making sure she got this money.

“In one case, I received five million Kenyan shillings. The song was widely popular.

Milestones in Finance

After getting the multi-million-shilling settlement, Muhando was able to improve her standard of living. This money allowed her to achieve significant financial milestones, drawing on her modest upbringing in a farming family.

She was able to buy a Prado and other better cars with the money. More significantly, she made sure her kids attended reputable schools.

Muhando insists that the amount of individuals who were saved by her songs is her greatest reward despite the enormous financial success, pointing out that many people took advantage of her labor for personal benefit.
