The president of the UAE meets with the CEO of OpenAI to talk about AI cooperation
The president of the United Arab Emirates met with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, according to the UAE’s official news service. The UAE has been spending billions to become a world leader in AI.
The main topic of conversation between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Altman was how to improve collaboration between OpenAI and its partners in the UAE, especially in the areas of AI study and its use in real life, according to the official news agency.
“This cooperation aligns with the UAE’s ambition to establish an integrated AI ecosystem, supporting the country’s development plans and its drive to build a knowledge-based economy,” it said.

Besides that, it has been trying to use its good ties with the US to get access to AI technology.
For the Gulf state to build one of the biggest AI campuses outside of the U.S., the UAE and the U.S. signed a deal in May. The deal was made public while President Trump was in Abu Dhabi.
