Kagame celebrates the signing of new agreements between Rwanda and Egypt

The relationship between Rwanda and Egypt has been hailed by President Paul Kagame, who arrived in Cairo on Tuesday, September 23 for an official visit. He described Egypt as a solid partner with demonstrable and continuously developing cooperation.

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, Kagame’s host, welcomed him, and the two leaders oversaw the signing of agreements in a number of important areas, such as promoting investment, managing water resources, allocating land in return, and urbanization and housing development.

Following a private meeting and lengthy talks between their delegations, Kagame stated at a joint press conference that the recently inked agreements mark yet another significant turning point in the two countries’ partnership.

“Rwanda views Egypt as a solid partner, and our collaboration is evident and expanding rapidly. We already have a solid base, which is strengthened by the agreements we signed today,” he said.

Kagame mentioned continued cooperation in health while highlighting a few of the significant initiatives.

Together, we are constructing a state-of-the-art heart care center in Kigali, a historic edifice that will greatly improve specialized cardiac care in Rwanda and elsewhere. Education and workforce development support this partnership. Medical personnel in Rwanda are still receiving advanced training from Egypt.

The chief of state also emphasized Egypt’s contribution to the development of Rwanda’s pharmaceutical industry.

“I want to use this chance to express my gratitude for Egypt’s assistance. Rwanda and Egypt have established mutual reliance and regulatory norms in the pharmaceutical industry. Together with partners, we have started producing vaccines in Rwanda and greatly increased access to high-quality, reasonably priced healthcare,” Kagame stated.

“In this area, Egyptian pharmaceutical and health companies are already great partners, and we want to do even more. We do, in fact, think that there are a lot of chances for our two nations to improve our overall economic connections. Our private sector executives gathered during this tour for that reason.

He went on to say that Rwanda and Egypt have similar goals in developing sectors, pointing out that they are both interested in sophisticated technology, food processing, and hospitality, among other things.

“Our nations’ access to larger regional markets will be greatly aided by Rwanda and Egypt’s reciprocal land distribution. Although our continent has an abundance of natural resources, we must turn these resources into high-value products if we want to see any substantial returns.

As he looked to the future, Kagame stated his hope for the two countries to continue working together, stressing the significance of collaborating more and more to overcome the numerous obstacles they encounter.

We’re going to keep expanding on this collaboration and a solid political grasp of the global and continental framework in which our two nations operate. In the end, we both want to build a development system that is practical, sustainable, and prosperous for our people. You are making good progress, Mr. President, and I have no doubt that we will soon witness even more noticeable outcomes.

Long-standing bilateral ties exist between Rwanda and Egypt, with collaboration in areas including infrastructure, education, health, trade, and investment.

The first-ever Egypt-Rwanda Business Forum, which brought together investors and entrepreneurs from a variety of industries, including real estate, construction, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and agriculture, was held in Cairo yesterday as part of the visit by business executives from both nations.
