The president of Algeria chooses Ghrieb to be prime minister

A statement from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said that he officially asked Sifi Ghrieb to form a new government and named him as the country’s new Prime Minister on Sunday.

Since Tebboune fired Nadir Larbaoui last month, Ghrieb, who was minister of industry, had been acting as Prime Minister.

This North African country produces gas and sells it to several European countries. It has been trying to broaden its economy as it deals with a number of social and economic problems.
