Iran executes a guy who participated in a women’s rights movement in 2022
Iran killed a man on Saturday who was suspected of killing a security guard after protests triggered by Mahsa Amini’s death in 2022, according to the judiciary’s Mizan website.
According to rights organizations, police frequently use coerced confessions gleaned through torture to punish demonstrators.
According to Mizan, attackers on a security forces vehicle in the Semirom region of Isfahan province, including Mehran Bahramian, were responsible for officer Mohsen Rezai’s shooting death in December 2022. According to the report, several more were hurt.
The execution on Saturday raises the total number of persons hung during the protests that broke out in mid-September 2022 after 22-year-old Amini passed away while being held by Iran’s morality police for allegedly breaking the hijab legislation to at least ten.
“Woman, Life, Freedom” became the slogan of protests around the country following her death.
On the same allegations, Bahramian’s brother Fazel was also given a death sentence, according to rights organizations. Security forces killed their brother, Morad Bahramian, during the protests in 2022.
According to Amnesty International, confessions obtained via beatings, extended periods of solitary confinement, and threats against detainees and their relatives are frequently presented as proof in court.
