Gary Busey Pleads Guilty to Sex Crimes Charges After Making a Startling Disclosure
Gary Busey has officially pleaded guilty to the criminal sexual contact charge that came from an event at a fan convention in 2022.
As if he were in court, the “Buddy Holly Story” actor admitted to touching a lady inappropriately at the Monster-Mania Convention, which happens every six months at a Doubletree Hotel in New Jersey, on Thursday, July 31.
Three women said Gary Busey touched them improperly during the autograph signing and meet-and-greet. At first, he was charged with four counts of criminal sexual contact and one count of attempted criminal sexual contact.
Touching was “not accidental,” Gary Busey says as his lawyer pushes for a fine.
The shocking thing Busey told the judge was, “It wasn’t an accident that we touched,” according to The Guardian.
Blair Zwillman, Busey’s criminal defense lawyer, said this was still the best result for the 80-year-old actor, even though he admitted guilt.
“He was in the best mood at that time.” It makes him happy to put this behind him. He really cares about his family. He is not a bad guy. The lawyer said, “We’re going to ask that he just pay a fine and stop it.”
He also stated that his client had to say out loud that he or she was wrong before the plea would be accepted.
“There has to be evidence that he admits to the crime.” Zwillman told PEOPLE, “He had to admit that it wasn’t his choice.”
Busey once said that the accusations were “all false” before he admitted guilt.
In 2022, several women told police that Busey had touched them inappropriately while they were taking pictures at Monster-Mania Con. Police were called to a hotel in New Jersey.
Police were told by one of the accused victims that Busey got too close, made sexy comments about her chest, and even tried to take her bra off. At the meet-and-greet, another woman said the star grabbed her behind.
Sadly, the next day, the police got another call from a different woman accusing the star of assault, this time saying that he had grabbed her behind at the same event.
Busey strongly denied the claims in an interview with TMZ when they were first made public.
“That didn’t happen,” he said. “In addition to my partner and a camerawoman, there were two girls.” Their leave took less than 10 seconds. After that, they made up a story that I sexually attacked them, which I did not do. The story is all made up; nothing happened.
The rough past of Gary Busey with the law
Busey’s guilty plea on Thursday is not the first time he has been in trouble with the law. In 1995, the star was charged with drug crimes after he almost died from a cocaine overdose.
In 2001, Busey’s ex-wife, actress Tiani Warden, said he hit her badly during a shocking fight.
“Like I said, things got really bad very quickly,” Warden told Radar Online. And he tried to take off my clothes by grabbing me hard. It was like an animal jumped on me when I tried to run away and pulled me to the ground. He got more aggressive as we fought. Because of this beating, I might have died.
Busey is being accused of sexual assault on the set of “Celebrity Apprentice.”
Busey was in the news again in 2011 when he was on “Celebrity Apprentice.” A female employee said that the star sexually assaulted her on set.
In the park, Busey was standing next to me while we smoked cigarettes. The worker then said, “He grabbed me firmly between my legs, ran his hand up my stomach, and grabbed my breasts.”
Several people who work for Donald Trump said he knew about the claims but did nothing about them and instead laughed them off.
