First Lady Brigitte and French President Emmanuel Macron File a Defamation Lawsuit Against Candace Owens

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte go to court because Owens won’t take back the controversial show claims he made.

For slandering French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron, right commentator Candace Owens has been sued. Owens said that Brigitte was born male and then changed her gender. The Macrons filed the lawsuit in Delaware Superior Court on Wednesday. It has 22 counts and asks Owens to pay them money for what they call a campaign of “outlandish, defamatory, and far-fetched fictions.”

It is clear that these claims are not true, and Owens knew that when she put them out there, the case says. “Yet, she put them out anyway.” It’s clear why: they’re not looking for the truth, they’re looking for fame.

Court records show that Owens turned down three requests from the Macrons to withdraw their statements, starting in December 2024.

In a statement, the Macrons said, “Ms. Owens’ campaign of slander was clearly meant to bother and hurt us and our families, as well as to get attention and fame.”

Owens said in public that the lawsuit was an attack on her rights under the First Amendment. A representative for Candace Owens said, “She is not going away.” “Politicians can be mean to reporters in France, but this is not France.” “This is America.”

She also went on YouTube and said that she was like a Gladiator fighter. She told the crowd, “This is why you’re here.” “This is how I feel now.” I’m getting my papers today.

Owens is being sued for spreading false information with “reckless disregard for the truth.” The claim says that Owens’s show “Becoming Brigitte” used lies to get viewers and money.
