Trump Stands Up for Attorney General Bondi As Epstein Files Draw More Criticism
The US president stands up for Pam Bondi after she was criticized in public because of newly released papers from Jeffrey Epstein.
On Saturday, US President Donald Trump supported Attorney General Pam Bondi as criticism of how the Justice Department handled the Jeffrey Epstein case grew, especially from people who support him.
Trump criticized those who were going after Bondi in a long post on Truth Social and said that people should stop caring about Epstein’s case. He wrote that “nobody cares about Epstein” and told his fans not to waste any more time on the issue. “What’s up with my ‘boys’ and ‘girls,’ sometimes?” The people who are after Attorney General Pam Bondi are all doing a GREAT JOB! “MAGA, we’re all on the same team, and I don’t like what’s going on.”
The backlash happened after the FBI and Justice Department released a memo on Monday saying that there was no proof to support long-running conspiracy theories about Epstein’s death in federal custody in 2019 or his alleged client network.
Conservatives like Elon Musk and Laura Loomer were critical of both Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel over the results. Part of what makes them angry is that Bondi had promised to tell them important things about Epstein, like names and flight logs.
NBC News and Fox News in the US said that FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has had a fight with Bondi over the problem and is thinking about stepping down. Both Bongino and Patel had said before that they thought the government was hiding information about Epstein from the public.
But the FBI report said that looking through more than 300 gigabytes of data had found “no incriminating client list” and no proof that Epstein forced important people to do what he wanted. It confirmed what the FBI already knew: Epstein killed himself in a New York jail cell while he was waiting to be tried, and there were no signs of foul play.
In February, Bondi told Fox News that Epstein’s client list was “sitting on my desk right now to review,” which led to more rumors about Epstein’s claimed clients.
