Buhari, the former president of Nigeria, died at age 82
Muhammadu Buhari, the former president of Nigeria, passed away in a London facility on Sunday, July 13, according to his family.
The first opposition candidate to unseat an incumbent in 2015 was Buhari, a former military leader who is now a democratically elected leader. He was re-elected for a further four-year term in 2019.
He had been elected president of the West African nation in 1983 and 1985 following a military takeover.
In Daura, Katsina state, in the far north of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari was born in December 1942.
