A Georgia woman who poisoned her husband with an antifreeze cocktail was given a life sentence
A Georgia lady was found guilty after a two-year investigation of poisoning her husband with an antifreeze-laced cocktail and was given a life sentence.
The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office stated in a statement on March 27 that Torrii Fedrick was found guilty last week of felony malice murder and aggravated assault in relation to the death of her husband, Phil Fedrick, in 2021.
Phil passed away in September 2021 following his hasty transfer to Archbold Memorial Hospital. As soon as they noticed his symptoms, emergency department personnel suspected he had been poisoned and informed the authorities. He passed away after a week. Later, an autopsy verified that the overdose was caused by ethylene glycol, a hazardous substance present in brake fluid and antifreeze.
According to the prosecution, Torrii Fedrick added the chemical to a drink that killed her husband. The investigators never found the drink or any antifreeze in the house, and her defense team retaliated by saying that Phil might have committed suicide.
When the couple’s kids, Phil Jr. and Phil’Nesia, testified during the trial, the case took a sharp turn. According to the prosecution, both first informed police that Phil Jr. saw his father consume the tainted cocktail. However, during their evidence in court, the siblings renounced important aspects of their previous claims. Phil Jr. told the court that he denied seeing his father drink and that he said what the investigators “wanted to hear.”
In spite of the contradictory testimony, the jury decided in favor of the prosecution.
According to local publication The Thomasville Times-Enterprise, Fedrick may be eligible for parole after serving his life sentence.
