German president: acknowledge the United States’ disregard for international law
Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the president of Germany, stated that the next U.S. government will flout long-standing diplomatic norms, which the international community will have to cope with.
“The new American administration has a very different world view to ours, one that has no regard for established rules, partnership, and grown trust,” the traditionally ceremonial head of state of Germany stated.
“We can handle it, but we must accept that. At the Munich Security Conference on Friday, he continued, “I am convinced that this world view is not in the interests of the international community to become the dominant paradigm.”
