A bus disaster in Ethiopia claimed the lives of at least 26 people, according to state-run media

According to a report by state-affiliated Fana Broadcasting on Tuesday, the bus in Oromiya, Ethiopia’s biggest province, flipped, killing at least 26 passengers.

According to Fana, which cited Asnake Mesfin, the traffic safety inspector for the East Wollega Zone, the bus was traveling from Shambu, in the west of the nation, to the capital Addis Ababa.

According to Asnake, 42 more people were hurt, and the death toll may increase. No more information was immediately available.

In Ethiopia, where driving standards are low and many cars are poorly maintained, fatal traffic accidents are frequent.

In late December, a vehicle carrying passengers crashed into a river in the southern Sidama area, killing at least 71 people.
