Shakib, Zari’s husband: The reason I made my Luganda debut on Netflix’s YFA

The Ugandan’s proficiency in English has frequently drawn harsh criticism.

The boxer-turned-businessman explained why he introduced himself in Luganda when everyone else used English in an exclusive interview with a Ugandan TV station.

Zari Hassan and Shakib Cham Shakib, a businessman from Uganda and the husband of socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan, has finally addressed the frequently asked topic regarding his behavior on Netflix.

Shakib, who achieved his goal of making an appearance on the Netflix series Young, Famous & African, clarified that he had a specific reason for introducing himself in Luganda and that it was not a random choice.

The boxer-turned-businessman explained why he introduced himself in Luganda when everyone else used English in an exclusive interview with a Ugandan TV station.

Shakib claimed that while he was proud to represent his native tongue to the millions of fans worldwide who watched the show, presenting himself in Luganda did not diminish his standing in any way, as some had implied.

He revealed that he had been watching movies since he was a young boy and had always hoped to see Ugandan productions on a worldwide scale.

As a result, he wanted to use his native Luganda language to proudly fly the Ugandan flag when he was given the chance to appear in Young, Famous & African on Netflix.

“I grew up watching Netflix movies, and I’ve always wanted to see more Ugandan films there. “I wanted to raise the Ugandan flag by speaking Luganda when I had the chance to be a part of Young, Famous & African,” Shakib added.

Shakib presented himself in his home tongue during the event, which included affluent entertainers from several African nations. This caused a range of reactions, especially from those who were not familiar with the language.

Nigerian beauty Anne Macaulay, who recently got divorced from her spouse 2Face Idibia, is thought to have made fun of Shakib in front of Zari because of this problem.

Additionally, Zari silenced detractors on social media who were making fun of Shakib’s strong Luganda accent in English.

Zari claims that her husband has had success with this speech and that others who are making fun of it most likely only have phones and internet.
