Official: Tottenham steals Kevin Danso from Wolves for €25 million
Kevin Danso, an Austrian defender, has officially joined Tottenham Hotspur in a €25 million package deal from RC Lens. The highly regarded center-back has committed to Spurs through June 2030, securing Ange Postecoglou’s long-term defensive options.
Before Spurs intervened at the last second to sabotage the deal, Danso was close to joining Wolverhampton Wanderers. Tottenham’s quick intervention, together with a more alluring idea and European aspirations, persuaded the player to move to North London even though Wolves had been in advanced negotiations.
Since joining Lens in 2021, the 25-year-old, who is renowned for his physical presence, poise on the ball, and aerial domination, has played a significant role. Spurs eventually won the race, but his achievements in Ligue 1 and the Champions League had generated a lot of attention throughout Europe.
As the team continues to rebuild under the Australian boss, Tottenham supporters will be interested to see how Danso fits into Postecoglou’s high-intensity approach. His arrival gives a backline that has improved but still requires reinforcements to contend for a top-four finish more depth and competition.
Spurs’ summer transfer window is still open, and more possible additions are anticipated before it ends.
