Netanyahu travels to Washington in an attempt to strengthen his relationship with Trump
Following tensions with the previous White House administration over the war in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was getting ready to depart Israel on Sunday for a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in an effort to improve relations with Washington.
The ceasefire in Gaza is still in effect, and talks for a second phase are anticipated to start this week when Netanyahu, the first foreign leader to visit Trump since his inauguration last month, departs.
He stated at the airport prior to his departure, “The choices we made in the war have already changed the face of the Middle East.”
The map has changed as a result of our choices and the valor of our warriors. But I think we can redraw it even further and in a more positive way if we work together with President Trump.”
Netanyahu had a tense relationship with Trump’s predecessor Joe Biden and has not been to the White House since taking office again at the end of 2022. He is facing an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court because to accusations of war crimes in Gaza.
