An Anglican bishop was detained for corruption

An Anglican bishop was arrested on Tuesday, January 21, according to the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), on suspicion of corruption.

Samuel Mugisha Mugiraneza is being held in the Remera RIB station in Kigali after he resigned as the bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Shyira.

In a post on X, RIB stated, “He is being investigated for suspected theft and misappropriation of funds for personal benefit during his tenure.”
