Tanzania confirms the Marburg virus epidemic
President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania said Monday that there is now one verified case of the Marburg virus epidemic in the east African nation.
She stated at a press conference in Dodoma, a town in the country’s center, that WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was also present. “Laboratory tests conducted at Kabaile Mobile Laboratory in Kagera and later confirmed in Dar es Salaam, identified one patient as being infected by Marburg virus,” she said.
